What is the Maritime Archaeology Museum ?

The Maritime Archaeology Museum (referred as "MAM") is a non-profit organization, of museum and professional museum personnel established to advance the interests of museology and other disciplines concerned with museum management and operations.

MAM consists of different artifacts from shipwrecks "Royal Nanhai", "Xuande", "Longquan", "Turiang" and "Nanyang", where all have been preserved according to the ICOM-UNESCO's fundamental principles and policy of "preservation of cultural property and underwater national heritage". Beside these artifacts, there are exhibits of 500 year old history of the Malacca Sultanate Period (1400-1511), Portuguese Occupation (1511-1641) and Dutch Occupation (1641-1796).

MAM is housed in Malacca's museum belt, heart of eco-tourism corridor of Malacca State, a 600 year old historical and cultural city, located at St. Paul Hill, next to our government PERZIM (state museum), a former premises of Malacca State Museum, where the Samudera Museum, Navy Museum, Malacca Sultanate Museum, Museum Rakyat etc. are located.

MAM provide opportunity to visit other historical buildings, churches and museums more than 300-500 years old, only 10 minutes walking distance in our museum corridor. MAM is truly a one-stop central corridor for visitors and tourists.
